Reading Time
approx. 1 min

It is simple to add a prologue or epilogue into Novelcrafter without impacting the numbering of your chapters or acts by toggling the Automatic Numeration .

To create a prologue:

  1. Create a new Chapter or Act Create a new chapter
  2. Move it to the front of your novel
  3. In the actions menu, toggle the Automatic Numeration to off. Disable numeration for a chapter
  4. Name your Chapter/Act “Prologue” Renaming a chapter

The process is the same if you were to create an epilogue, with placement at the end of your novel.
